Homecoming 2015
Parade
On Saturday, I grabbed a quick breakfast and headed over to the corner of Rollins and Hitt Street to view the Homecoming Parade. I was surprised by how much the community was involved and by how much the parade was a family affair. Just like at Campus Decs, countless Columbia families were spending a beautiful fall morning on campus, cheering on the university and the people of their city.
The float designs by the small groups of sororities and fraternities were impressive. Watching them pass by gave me a whole new respect for my friends who always seemed to be “pomping” during the last two months.
My friends and I especially liked the Kappa Alpha Theta, Alpha Epsilon Pi and Alpha Kappa Lambda “Engineer” float with the train, which had moving elements, and the James Bond-theme float by Phi Mu, Lambda Chi Alpha and Alpha Chi Rho that was pulled by a truck playing the movie theme song.
